The Search 4 Happiness
Day 146 - Nothing

It's okay to feel nothing sometimes; it's neither euphoria nor despair. Sometimes you just feel nothing, and that's okay. I had a wonderful day with my son today. We went on a rainforest adventure, had lunch at the beautiful Jolly's Lookout, went for a swim, watched a movie, and then played for hours in the backyard. It was wonderful, and there are numerous topics within today that I could elaborate on, and maybe I will another day.
However, the energy changed direction and the momentum quickly shifted. My wife came home, and the car that has been in and out of the mechanics for the last three months had another issue. I don't know what it is yet, but it's another issue nonetheless. Part of me is enraged, furious, and ready to explode, but a deeper part of me is surprisingly very calm. Is this a result of repeated defeat, or a neutral emotional state to maintain composure in the face of another unknown source of stress and pressure?
Regardless, it has highlighted to me that like myself, a lot of people often find themselves in a state of nothingness, and that's okay. The lack of emotion in either direction can have both positive and negative effects, but it's okay. Sometimes, when we find ourselves in this state of nothingness, it's important to just let it be and allow ourselves to flow down the river of nothingness until we encounter the next incoming current and reassess.
We all must recognize that feeling nothing is a valid emotional state that can occur in response to both positive and negative experiences, serving as a way to maintain composure and navigate through life's uncertainties.
Fluctuating between our emotional states and maintaining balance are key contributing factors in the search for happiness. Understanding that riding the wave of nothingness is also part of this balance.
Thanks,
Dean
