Habit stacking, like compound interest, starts off slow but develops into a powerhouse. As the saying goes, most people overestimate what they can do in a year and underestimate what they can do in ten. For a long time, I never really thought too much about habit stacking and consistently pursuing growth on a day-to-day basis. I searched for short-term wins and thought that eventually there would just be a substantial win that came out of thin air. It took a long time for me to quantify and truly appreciate how important it is to build slowly, consistently, and always maintain a steady focus on the objective. For financial, athletic, or personal growth reasons, habit stacking and compound interest on investment is the only real answer to seeking the goals and aspirations you desire.

Over the years, especially when I came into my thirties, did I start to see and realize how 7-10 years was a common time period for many successful entrepreneurs, business people, athletes, and just general success across the board from a range of unique facets to attain the deep rooted success. Years and years of consistent devotion, stacking their chips on a daily basis, and building the dream into reality. Sure, some people find shortcuts, strike gold, or success simply falls from the sky, but in almost 100% of those cases, I believe the success fades, the appreciation for the outcome dwindles, and when it's realized that there is no foundation to back it, it ceases to exist and may be left to feel somewhat empty.

The ability to stack habits is a personal and disciplinary process for all. It is very easy for initial excitement to form a habit through desire, but it's the compound interest of stacking that creates the foundation for the outcome you truly want - the outcome that will become a part of who you are and what you stand for.

I believe that growth comes from consistent work and discipline, and habit stacking forms a fundamental basis for that growth. Day by day, constantly stacking for a level you may not see until you're at its doorstep.

Thanks,

Dean
