The Search 4 Happiness
Day 226 - Impermanence

I was listening to a Buddhist monk speak about impermanence and how it is the understanding that all things in life are constantly changing, and that nothing remains the same. I think the premise of understanding this form of motion is a strong contributing factor in the search for happiness.
This concept contributes to the search for happiness by reminding us to let go of attachments and expectations. Doing so can allow us all true freedom. When we embrace impermanence, we learn to appreciate the present moment and find contentment in the here and now, rather than constantly seeking happiness in the future. This allows us to enjoy life and each moment for what it is, never getting too far ahead or falling too far behind.
Life is constantly evolving, and there are such a wide range of elements that are in constant fluctuation, evolution, and transformation. The idea that all aspects of the universe are in constant motion, and all energy is in constant movement, is a profound thought, one that truly connects, or allows everything to intertwine. It gives us all an opportunity to be whoever we want to be, think however we want to think, and live any life we truly aspire to lead.
Another aspect of impermanence that I think is both beneficial and somewhat profound is having the understanding that all things remaining in constant movement is also a reassurance that no matter what challenges we are faced with, we can allow our minds to rest, as this too shall pass. Having the ability to maintain a steady ship, a steady mind, and understanding that any disruptions to our lives are eventually going to subside is a powerful tool in traversing difficult periods in our lives.
Ultimately, embracing impermanence allows us to cultivate a sense of peace and freedom, leading us on the path to true happiness.
