The Search 4 Happiness
Day 254 - Sailing

I've touched on it various times throughout my search for happiness because I feel so strongly about it. For me personally, as I traverse a constant stream of battles within my own mind, it is necessary to reiterate the importance of a balanced and steady mind, like a steady ship in rocky waters.
It is imperative to maintain a balance of emotions and seek to control the elements of our psyche that can fluctuate in order to succeed in our search for happiness. My mindset can fluctuate rapidly, and although I believe I maintain a balanced and relaxed demeanour, I constantly have battles in my mind as I seek to steady the ship.
Throughout my life, I have been tested by temptations and vices that, to an extent, counteract my growth and forward momentum. However, I do believe that, like in various alternative facets of our life, there is a balance of Yin and Yang within everything. The battle of vice or escape versus productivity is not excluded from this. It is important to have the ability to foresee, recognize, realign, and adapt so that we are not lost in the sway of the balance.
Within moments of pure drive and movement, there will always be a lingering element of resistance. Resistance to a range of different facets within our lives, and sometimes, almost inevitably, we are tested. At these moments of testing, when our emotions fluctuate, we need to maintain a steady mind - a balanced mind. One that can traverse without swaying too far on either side in stormy weather and capsize the ship.
There’s nothing wrong with failure, it’s important if anything. There’s nothing wrong, to an extent, with moments in lapse of judgement or incorrect decision making. However, it is within the balance, recognition, and realignment that contributes significantly in our search for happiness.
“ If you strive only to avoid the darkness or to cling to light, you cannot live in balance. Try striving to be conscious of all that you are” - Gary Zukav
