The Search 4 Happiness
Day 270 - Wins

Wins, big or small, play a vital role in building our confidence and self-esteem, as well as creating additional drive, purpose, fulfillment, and to an extent, respect. Along with a vast array of alternative contributing factors in our lives, gauging the wins, appreciating the wins, and recognizing the importance of the wins, whether as a team, an individual pursuit against an opponent, or even a win against yourself, all of them play a role. Depending on the value you put on the win, the work you invest, and the time you put towards it, all contribute to the reward you find if you succeed.
It's funny how sometimes you may find yourself in positions where imposter syndrome is rife, and you feel completely out of your depth, in whatever realm it may be, and you're unsure of the direction, or path, or process involved to achieve the objective, or task, or goal. But you continue to work, start wherever you think you can, and slowly it begins to unravel.
Since we recently moved into our house, I've had a few smaller outstanding projects or tasks to complete. I like to think of myself as a handyman, and at times I can succeed in various handyman tasks. However, a tradesman is a distant description. Regardless, I decided to try my luck at a fence, fairly basic, and most builders would do it in their sleep. However, for me, it's quite a challenging task, one that involves a variety of YouTube videos and a call to a couple of carpentry friends as well.
I set out at the start of the week, purchased the materials, and assembled all the tools required, as per my tutorial. I revisited my videos a couple of times and planned for the construction. I was ready to go, prepared the area, began digging, and before long, it began to pour down with rain, flooding the area, my hole, and destroying my start. The second day was similar, but I managed to get a post in the ground. The third day/today started to come right, clear weather, and I got a clean break. I worked throughout the day, made various mistakes, but managed to get the most difficult aspects to me sorted.
This may seem trivial, and to many, it is, but to me, it was a proud moment. A proud moment to have achieved a win against myself and succeed in an avenue that is outside of my norm, and one that creates a strange comparative mentality, which almost makes it feel like it's a requirement for me to naturally know how to be proficient in these areas.
Being the champion of the world in your chosen field, winning your local athletics competition, or succeeding in a task that challenged your skill set or knowledge, all require a conscious effort to win. Regardless of the level of challenge, you choose how you value the importance of the win and acknowledging, embracing, and celebrating wins at all levels, that make you feel great, are significant and important in our search for happiness.
Strive for the absolute best in yourself, always aim to win, never give up, and you’ll succeed.
Thanks,
Dean
