The Search 4 Happiness
Day 292 -Dr Suess
2/11/20242 min read

Since an early age, we have always tried to expose our children to a wide variety of books and authors to stimulate their imagination and help establish the magic that is a part of the world. One of the most significant authors and books that we read and promote to our children is Dr. Seuss.
Theodore Seuss Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss, was an American children's author and cartoonist from the 20th century who created wonder in a wide array of perspectives, ideologies, and understandings of the world. He wrote many books, and although he wrote for children, his writing and delivery were deeply profound. Delivering his messages through this medium added an additional level to his understanding of life and the world.
Throughout this journey, I have searched in a range of areas and continue to do so on a daily basis. However, there have been various philosophers, authors, and inspirational individuals that have popped up, and concepts, ideologies, or understandings of the search for happiness have drawn me back to them several times. One of these individuals is Dr. Seuss and his ability to deliver deep messages and understanding through his somewhat riddle-like phrases, sayings, or messages has really created a sense of questioning and understanding on a unique and, I believe, successful understanding of life, purpose, fulfillment, and happiness.
After reading several of his books, and some several times over on a frequent basis, I’ve come across the below 10 quotes which I believe are significant in their relevance to our worlds and a contributing factor into the search for happiness.
1. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
2. "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose."
3. "Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is your than you."
4. "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."
5. "A person's a person, no matter how small."
6. "You're off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so... get on your way!"
7. "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind."
8. "Think and wonder, wonder and think."
9. "Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope."
10. "You'll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut."
These a just a few of his quotes but throughout all of his books and writings there are a wide range of additional pieces of wisdom, thoughts, and sayings that can contribute in the search for happiness
