The Search 4 Happiness

Day 317 - Wabi Sabi

Society creates a misconstrued and oversimplified expectation of attaining perfection; however, perfection, to me, is in the eye of the beholder. It is within the pursuit of perfection that we can truly attain the meaning of it.

"Wabi Sabi" is a concept of finding beauty within imperfection and is an authentic ideology on artist perspective and life. I think, to an extent, the idea of continuously modifying something in an attempt to attain a 'perfection’, seems misguided and less authentic. Within that, possibly a piece of the essence of the art or concept, of the idea, could be lost because of failing to allow it to be the essence of its foundation.

For a large portion of the world, there is an expectation of perfection in any endeavour. Subsequently, people are left in a state of pressure, ongoing fear of failure, and a lack of drive when the first issue becomes apparent. This forms an unnecessary barrier because the imperfections are the portions of anything that create the uniqueness, and without uniqueness, or if everything was perfect, then eventually nothing would be special.

In our acceptance of imperfection being the essence of true form, we can allow ourselves to work and live with more freedom in our lives, less fear, and a greater appreciation and expressiveness of our own authenticity. Managing to gain this understanding and the perception of Wabi Sabi or beauty within imperfections can be an incredibly powerful contributing factor in our search for happiness.

Thanks,
