Day 348 - Growing Old

"We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing."

As I grow older and witness my friends, family, and those around me also getting older, I see that a common factor in the search for happiness lies in the ability to pursue activities that bring joy, regardless of our age. I was questioned recently about me skateboarding with my children and if I was to old to be doing that, it made me realize how some people have narrow views on age-appropriate activities. I found it dad that they couldn't see the joy and connection that such activities bring and that if that was there perspective, how many things that once loved they stopped purely because of some preconceived and somewhat irrelevant societal perception. This encounter prompted me to reflect on the happiness I have garnered from various pursuits over the years.

I believe that maintaining a positive, balanced, and proactive outlook on life is crucial in our search for happiness. No matter our age, we should strive to engage in activities that bring us joy and fulfillment. While there may be legitimate reasons limiting our ability to continue certain activities, maintaining a youthful mindset and embracing life to the fullest can greatly impact our overall well-being and longevity. By staying open to new experiences and maintaining a sense of adventure, we can continue to find moments of intense fulfillment and euphoria at any stage of life.

Embracing a mindset of curiosity and exploration can open doors to new passions and interests, enriching our lives and fostering a sense of purpose and fulfillment. It is essential to break free from societal expectations and embrace activities that bring us happiness, regardless of age or perceived norms. Each stage of life offers unique opportunities for growth, learning, and joy, and by continuing to maintain youthful passion and stay engaged, we can cultivate a vibrant and fulfilling existence. It’s important to never forget that the true essence of youthfulness lies not in our age but in our perception and willingness to play, explore, and embrace life's wonders with the aspiration of adventure with childlike wonder.

Don't ever stop doing anything you enjoy or that makes you happy just because someone else has a negative perspective about it. If someone is projecting such a perspective, it may be a reflection and somewhat an internal justification of why they stopped doing something they once loved, something that made them happy, simply because someone else had formed an opinion that tainted their own mindset.
