I covered a wide variety of things last week, children, environment, the connection to nature, the importance of expression and the link between enlightenment and creative output, work and the humble smile.

I was sick a lot of the last 10 days and subsequently my emotions were heightened which lead to some deep feelings forwards the different elements. One of the most interesting and profound things I read from Emerson was he belief in the connection between creativity and the realm of enlightenment. It really opened a portal of thought about how the physical expression of your subconscious dreams and imagination can simply appear for all to see, Being creative without any preconceived ideas of thought from externals and fully realising your mind through creative expression of any kind is a remarkable insight and most definitely a pathway in the search for happiness.

Other elements that really stuck with me was children and their environment. It’s obvious how powerful an experience being a parent and raising a child can be but also the shear importance of the environment that you provide is such a critical aspect of the trajectory of their lives. Watching all those parents, myself included, observe their 4-7 year old children receive recognition for their hard work was a beautiful moment and a deeply reflective one for me in truly understanding just how much happiness my children and other children can provide, as long as the correct nurturing and care required, is provided.

Nature was an easy subject for me as I have always had that deep connection with it, however, it was nice to take a step back and question exactly why. That moment when I felt those mountains, and various moments throughout my life, I’ve connected at an unexplainable level which gives me a profound feeling of the universe and the energy that flows through absolutely everything and absolutely nothing. What is space? What is time? What is nothing?

Finally, as I reflected on the smile, as I smile while I write this, I feel happy because, what a wonderful feeling it is to smile and to be smiled upon. So today, make sure you smile, because that little smile might change the world.

Thanks,

Dean
