The world we live in is a constantly transitioning between good and evil, light and dark, positive and negative energies. It is a fascinating movement throughout space and time but ultimately a necessary balance of the universe. I believe that good and evil must maintain a form of balance within each realm and the control of the balance between said realms is a mechanism in the search for happiness.

The concept of Yin and Yang represents the balance between two opposing forces: light and dark, good and evil, positive and negative. One cannot exist without the other, and they must be in harmony in order for balance to be achieved. This balance can be observed throughout nature, where life and death, creation and destruction balance each other out to maintain order within the universe.

Within our society we are faced on a daily basis with choices that contribute greatly to the balance of good and evil. Constantly we are met at various intersections within our lives to choose paths towards light or darkness. Most people would agree that the overall objective to the search for good and the aspiration to be a better human and contribute in a positive manner for all. However, in order to appreciate the light, we must understand the darkness.

I believe that finding the balance between good and evil is a control mechanism in the search for happiness. It is a common realisation that happiness cannot be achieved without pain and suffering. This is because if you are unable to seek the sadness then how do you recognise the contrast of happiness. Happiness is not a constant state and if it were the universe would not be able to maintain and energy balance and the world would cease to exist as we know it. Without the balance of good and evil we would be unable to fully appreciate the good times and would take them for granted.

Evil and darkness prevents us from becoming complacent. It forces us to review our actions, find resolve and look for a more productive and beneficial path for all. It is only through our constant battles and efforts against negativity that we overcome that makes us stronger and more compassionate humans. It is only through the overcoming of suffering that we can find the path in the search for happiness,

Without the contrast between light and dark, good and evil, positive and negative, we would be unable to fully appreciate the world around us. Ultimately, it is our choices and actions that shape the balance of good and evil in our world, and it is up to us always strive towards the light, to always strive for better and to pursue the universal truth of good vs evil.

“The good man is free, even is he is a slave. The evil man is a slave, even if he is king” - Saint Augustine
