I was having breakfast with a mate the other morning, and we were talking about growth and the various avenues available to learn and discover more about ourselves. He said he's been doing some breathwork workshops over the past few months, and through these workshops, he's resolved some internal struggles of childhood trauma he didn't realize he had. I always thought of the breathwork workshops as just being based around the Wim Hof methods and more focused on immunity and activation of the body. Obviously, there's a large element of mental awareness, focus, and strengthening, but more so a physical process.

He explained to me how the 3-4 hour workshop was a fairly spiritual journey, and at the end of his first session, he opened his eyes in a pool of tears and had come to the deep, profound realization of resolving past experiences.

It made me think about how maintaining an open mind to all aspects of life is so important. Failure to keep an open mind can create roadblocks in your mind, as well as prevent you from learning new things and opening the doors to new opportunities.

I like to think I've always been open-minded, but it's easy to get caught up in preconceived ideas about what's right and wrong and the perception of various things from other opinions, especially in the spiritual realm. There's almost a script of normal and abnormal activities depending on the area and people you grow up around. I know that over the past 2-3 generations, as I compare my grandfather's era to my dad's and to mine, there's been a drastic change in open-mindedness and the concept of having an open mind to certain things, especially mental health and things within that arena.

Allowing yourself the opportunity to listen to thoughts and ideas from a neutral standpoint is a wonderfully freeing thing. I still have preconceived ideas about things, but I'm working to be more and more open-minded within the lines of my fundamental values and morals. The ability to maintain an open mind allows deeper conversation,

access to new experiences, and a deeper reach within your own mind. I think keeping an open mind and being open to the world as if there were no rules and regulations provides a greater possibility of understanding who you are, growing more as a person, and succeeding in the search for happiness.
