The Search 4 Happiness
Day 85 - Memphis

The saying 'a man's best friend', to me, is an understatement. We've had our dog, Memphis, for almost 9 years now. He's a Golden Labrador and, like most Labradors, he is wonderfully natured, caring, and loyal. He selflessly puts us before himself and loves us unconditionally.
I've been thinking about unconditional love a lot since my post yesterday and I realized that the purest example can be found right at my doorstep. The love and affection that a canine companion provides to their family is unwavering, unshakable, and as pure-hearted as imaginable.
Over the years, Memphis and I have shared many wonderful adventures and amazing memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. No matter what the circumstances have been, if I come home upset and refused to talk to anyone, Memphis has always been there for me. He always provides that love and affection that can instantly resolve insignificant worries in my mind.
Regardless of the circumstances he provides complete and undivided attention and expects nothing in return. The happiness he has given me over the years is priceless beyond belief, and some of those moments are core memories and emotions on which I can lean in times of sadness.
When I think about animal family members, I have always considered them as just that: family members. However, the ability to deeply connect with animals is not limited to my own family. It extends far beyond that. I believe that for many people, the idea of connecting with animals or any other living beings on a deeper level might seem unrealistic. The possibility of forming such a connection with non-human beings may be deemed impossible.
Maintaining an open mind and an open heart towards all living creatures is truly a wonderful experience. As beings who are also animals, if we choose to confine our potential connections within our own world, then we also choose to hinder the possibility of forming deeper and more loving connections with a vast range of energy systems. This limits our capacity to search for happiness.
Allowing an open mind and an open heart to animal connections is a wonderful opportunity to create deeper, more meaningful connections to a diverse array of love, affection, and happiness. I have had many animals throughout my life, and consciously connecting with them on as deep a level as possible has opened up my soul on a much larger scale. I strongly believe it has contributed greatly to my search for happiness, especially with my main man Memphis.
Like the shining sun, your aura projects a feeling of unconditional love that creates a warmth within my soul
Thanks,
Dean
