The Search 4 Happiness
Day 90 - Giving

Giving when you have everything is one thing; giving when you have nothing is a completely different mentality. I've met many people over the years: some incredibly wealthy, some extremely poor. Some you would perceive as living a life of luxury, yet incredibly sad; others you would perceive as living in poverty, yet incredibly happy. The mindset of an individual completely dictates the direction and feeling of their own happiness. The decision to be a good person, who consciously wants to contribute to society and help others, is completely at your discretion. Giving back is not reflected in the amount you give, but more so in the relevance to your situation.
One of my cousins stayed with my dad the other night. He doesn't have a lot, very little, in fact. He stayed up late and ate a whole tub of ice cream. In the morning, my dad came into the kitchen and found the empty ice cream container with $5 on it. This small gesture from someone who has very little is a testament to genuinely good people. I know my cousin, and that $5 was probably a significant amount of money for him, but it was very insignificant for my dad. Hearing of the gesture moved me and just reiterated how much of a good person my cousin is, and although his situation might not the most prestigious, he can teach many people, valuable lessons in how we should treat each other. Some people wouldn't give a homeless child $1 for food as they hop into their Ferrari, yet some people with nothing would give you the shirt off their back.
Giving is indeed a powerful force in the search for happiness, as it reflects the mindset and willingness of an individual to contribute to society and help others. It's fascinating to observe that people's happiness is not solely determined by their wealth or material possessions, but rather by their perspective and attitude towards giving.
This simple act of giving $5 may seem like a transaction on the surface. However, it carries a much deeper meaning. It symbolizes an individual's recognition and understanding of the profound power of giving. By consciously choosing to give, regardless of one's situation, happiness becomes more attainable. The act of giving becomes a contributing force in the search for happiness because it nurtures a mindset of compassion, empathy, and generosity.
It is not the quantity of what we give that matters but the quality of our intentions and the impact it has on others. By embracing the power of giving, we unlock a path in a search for happiness, one that transcends material wealth and finds its essence in selflessness and the improvement of society.
Only by giving are you able to receive more than you already have
Thanks,
