The Search 4 Happiness
Day 94 - Influence

Throughout history, there have been a range of influential people in the world. Being influential does not necessarily mean you need to influence people on a global scale, but rather that your actions create an impact, on anyone. Choosing who influences you is a significant decision in life and greatly dictates the person you become. In many cases, the people who influence you initially are usually family figures or individuals chosen by your family.
The selection of these key figures is crucial in your life as they provide direction and create benchmarks for both aspiration and limitations that you may set in your own mind, which can either hinder or enable your potential for growth. They share knowledge, model values and ideologies, instil morals, and guide you towards what they truly believe is essential.
Throughout my life, I have been privileged to be influenced by a variety of people. Many of those closest to me have achieved greatness in various fields, such as business, sports, academia, but more so just being wonderful humans. These influences in my life have provided insights into being a good person, embracing good values and morals, and laying the fundamental building blocks necessary to achieve something great.
The ability to absorb information, process, and dissect what you believe, are the most important aspects in choosing who influences you. As I've grown older and more outside influence enters my mind and thought process, I realize that my perception of an idea or concept could sway greatly from someone else's. Understanding who influences you, how they influence you, what influence they have on you, and how you wish to dissect and apply that information will greatly dictate who you are and what type of person or influence on the world you wish to become.
Connecting with the people who influence us the most, learning, developing and understanding how we digest the influence, while embracing and trying to be the change we wish to see, are fundamental aspects in the search for happiness.
The path you first followed was laid before your eyes until you learned to build the road. The road you wish to build will be found through the path you wish to follow.
Thanks,
Dean
